Looking for a great place to visit for lunch? Well, have I got the place for you! Just past Hong Kong, is a small spot full of life called Tokyo. You think I'm kidding, but if you go east on 50th Street from Slide, you will pass Hong Kong Super Buffet and about a half a mile down the road is Tokyo Japanese Seafood and Steakhouse.

Although the building does not look all that impressive, the food is! I first visited Tokyo my freshmen year with a group of friends. If you have never been there let me start by saying that Tokyo is a Japanese Steakhouse and Hibachi Grill, which means they cook the food right in front of you. As we sat, mouths watering and eyes enchanted by our chef's ability to throw an egg in the air and cut it in half with his spatula, my friends asked if it was proper to clap! Since my freshman year I have frequented Tokyo for many meals, and it has quickly become my favorite restaurant in Lubbock!

You may be thinking to yourself, "Steakhouse? Sounds expensive." Well let me tell you how this poor college guy manages to eat there at least once a month. It's called "lunch special!" While Tokyo has reasonable prices at dinner, ($12.95 for hibachi shrimp and chicken, fried rice, vegetables, appetizer, and soup) the real deal is at lunch. For just $5.95 you get a huge portion of hibachi chicken, fried rice, vegetables, and soup. You may be asking, "If I can get the food so cheap, what's wrong with it?" The answer is … nothing. There are only two differences between lunch and dinner, besides the price. The first difference is at dinner the chefs put on a big show with fire and cool utensil tricks, but at lunch they just cook the food and send it your way. The second difference is at dinner you get a five-piece shrimp appetizer with your meal, and at lunch, unless you order it, there is no shrimp appetizer.

So, next time you are hungry for a taste from the orient, stop by Tokyo. Weather you go at dinner or for lunch, you are sure to enjoy!
