SHAWNEE, OK - After such a strong performance last week when the Lubbock Christian University volleyball team got much needed wins over Oklahoma City and Southern Nazarene, the Lady Chap faithful might have feared a letdown this week as LCU had to play three Sooner Athletic Conference games in three days in three cities.

However, Lubbock Christian was up to the task, finishing a perfect 3-0 over the weekend, including a three game sweep of St. Gregory's University Saturday afternoon. LCU defeated Mid-America Christian on Thursday and John Brown University on Friday before the final win over SGU.

From the start, the Lady Chaps (15-4) took control, going out in front 10-2, and they never let up, winning game one 30-8. In games two and three, head coach Jennifer Lawrence elected to rest her starters, and her reserves did not disappoint.

In game two, LCU opened with a 10-5 run on the way to a 30-15 victory, and in game three, with the score tied 5-5, Lubbock Christian went on a 12-5 run and won 30-17.

Suzanne Childress finished with 14 kills, Rachel Stuyvesant had 33 assists, and Courtney Yonke had 23 digs. In addition, freshmen Kaydee Starkey and April Severyn had six and five kills, respectively, while Melissa Green added four.

For St. Gregory's (1-10), Ashley Hurney tallied nine kills, Karina Tittjung handed out 16 assists, and Kim Kelly scooped up 18 digs.

Up next for Lubbock Christian Univesity is a three-match home stand that begins with heated rival Wayland Baptist on Tuesday, October 2nd at 7:00 pm at the Rip Griffin Center.

The Lady Chaps will then take a break from the SAC and play a pair of important NAIA Region VI matches on Friday and Saturday against the University of Texas - Brownsville and Texas Wesleyan at 7:00 pm and 11:00 am, respectively.
