ODESSA, TX - The Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps cross country team ran in the UTPB Invitational last Saturday, finishing third out of eight teams in the event hosted by the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

For the second time this season, sophomore Brittani Borden-Sigle finished in the "Top 5," placing third with a time of 19:51 on the 5K course.

Conditions for the event were less than ideal as rain made the trek wet and spongy, exposing the runners prone to injury and accounting for the slow times. Nonetheless, Borden-Sigle persevered, as did her teammates, Imma Kosgei, Heidi Smith, Jaime Rucker, Lauren Laudig, and Lenzi Carney.

Kosgei posted her second "Top 10" performance of the year, finishing in ninth with a time of 21:09, and Smith wound up in 20th with her time of 24:12 . Rucker, Lauding, and Carney finished back-to-back-to-back in 31st, 32nd, and 33rd with times of 27:16, 27:34, and 27:39, respectively.

The Lady Chaps will next run on Saturday, October 13th, when they travel west to compete in the API/SPC Cross Country Festival, hosted by South Plains College in Levelland.
