In a ceremony held during chapel at Lubbock Christian High School Tuesday morning, LCHS standout Rachael Dansby signed a scholarship agreement to play golf for the Lubbock Christian University Lady Chaps beginning in the fall of 2008.
The LCU Athletic Department and head coach Trent Phillips are pleased with the signing and the opportunity to add a player of exceptional talent, who exemplifies the ideals that Lubbock Christian University holds so dear.
The signing comes on the heels of the most successful fall season the Lady Chaps have ever enjoyed. Lubbock Christian finished 5th, 2nd, and 2nd in the three events they played, and with the addition of Rachael, they look to continue their rise to prominence and make more of a name for themselves on the national stage.
Dansby's exploits have been well documented over the last few years as she is one of the premier female prep golfers in the Southwestern United States. During her three years with the Lady Eagles, Dansby has been a member of one District Champion, two Regional Champion, and three TAPPS State Champion teams.
Individually, she has won two TAPPS 3A State Championships (2005 & 2006), and she was the TAPPS 4A Runner-up in 2007. She has recorded 13 individual titles during her three years at Lubbock Christian High, including winning an impressive six out of 10 events a year ago. In recognition of her efforts, Dansby is a three-time TAPPS All-State selection, a two-time member of the NHSGCA Girls All-America Team (2006 & 2007), and she was the NHSGCA Girls Player of the Year in 2007.
But, Dansby's success has not been limited to TAPPS competition; she also competes year-round in several junior events around Texas and the Southwest. She has four top three finishes at the NTPGA West Area Championship (winning the title in both 2006 and 2007), she has four top five finishes at the NTPGA Section Championship, and she has twice finished 5th in the Texas / Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament.
Rachael joins an LCU squad that includes her older sister, Leah, and one that was ranked #12 in the final NAIA Top 25 Poll last season, finished 16th at the NAIA National Tournament last May in San Marcos, CA, and currently sits 5th in the Golfstat head-to-head standings for NAIA women.
