Talita Aguiar is one of those people who leave an impression when you first meet her; her cheerful personality makes it easy to become friends with her. She walked across the stage last Saturday and received her diploma from Lubbock Christian University and will soon be leaving the people she has come to know over the past few years.
Talita, who is from Fortaleza, Brazil, majored in Organizational Communications, while at LCU. She has been an extremely valuable player for the Lady Chaps basketball team, playing both her junior and senior year. The times she spent on the basketball team were memorable and something she will never forget. In fact, when asking Talita about a favorite memory at LCU, she recalls the two times when their team went to the NAIA Basketball National Tournament as a favorite memory.
We might see Talita on the television one day, reporting the news, for one of her dreams is to become a TV reporter or work in public relations. Talita loves to spend time with her family and friends, and enjoys watching movies and going to the beach. If she could travel anywhere in the world, she said that, besides Brazil and the US, she would love to go to France and Italy.
Two of her favorite movies are "Because I Said So" and the romantic movie "A Walk to Remember." She's not picky when it comes to music, saying she likes all different kinds, though she prefers Brazilian and techno music the most.
Her favorite bible verses come from I Corinthians 13:4-7: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
It will be hard leaving the place she has come to know over the past few years and she says that she will miss "… the friends I met. All the friends I met here will always be very special for me."
Talita has a bright, cheerful personality, is funny and works hard at everything she does. We will miss seeing her at LCU, but know that God has great plans for this talented young woman. May God bless you, Talita!
