This is the part “deux” of The DusterToday’s interviews of the Follies’ Hosts and Hostesses. As a part of a Christian campus, it’s not every day that we get to see guys wear make-up, sing, and dance … all at the same time! This year the hosts are Cooper Schoolcraft, Keegan Peck, and Preston Cox.

What is your favorite part of being in Follies?

Cooper: Being able to learn all of this great music and have fun doing it! It has been so much fun being able to come together in practice to learn the music and to build friendships at the same time.
Preston: It’s just a blast to be a part of something that is so deep in LCU tradition. It is a great honor to be selected to be an ambassador for LCU.
Keegan:<.b> The opportunity to perform in front of a large audience. It’s so much fun!!

What is the hardest part of being in Follies?

Cooper: Not the singing and it’s not the choreography. The hardest part is singing, while doing the choreography. It’s harder to remember the words and do the choreography at the same time than it is to do either one on their own.
Preston: Being a host takes a lot of devotion and time outside of practice. It’s difficult to remember every detail about the previous practice, plus staying current in your classes! (It’s totally worth it though!)
Keegan: Learning all of the songs and dances.

What has been something memorable from practices?

Cooper: Our first night of stage rehearsal, Keegan, Preston, and I decided that we would try diving onto stage for one or our entrances. Needless to say, we later decided we needed to work on our form after we limped to our marks and walked away with bruises and pulled muscles … we are absolute geniuses … but hey, it’s all good!!!!
Preston: We always have these wild ideas about silly dance moves or funny lyrics. Dr. Camp is usually the initiator. For instance, one song has the sign language in the back of the score and Dr. Camp thought we should perform it like the Happy Hands Club on Napoleon Dynamite. There’s always something like that at practice.
Keegan: All of the guys dancing. It isn’t pretty!!

Everyone should make an effort to attend Master Follies this weekend and support these hard working performers. Tickets are available online.
