Restaurant Review: Las Brisas Southwest Steakhouse
Dining with a View

Do you ever get tired of the city life? Not that Lubbock is an overpopulated, booming metropolis, but sometimes it is just good to get away from the traffic to a quieter, peaceful setting. You can find some peace and quiet as well as an appetizing meal when you drive down Quaker Avenue to 112th Street to Las Brisas Southwest Steakhouse.
My friend and I went to Las Brisas for the first time recently, and I cannot wait to go back. The indoor dining looked nice, but we decided to eat outside on their patio. We enjoyed our meal on the patio that offered a beautiful view of a waterfall and pond. The sound of the water falling down the rocks and into the pond provided a relaxing atmosphere. The service from our waiter was impressive from the beginning as he talked to us in a way that seemed genuine and not just the normal, "How are you folks this evening?" or "Here's what is on our menu…" In my opinion, the service from the wait staff and hostesses is one of the most important aspects of the dining experience, so our waiter's positive attitude and attentiveness definitely gave the restaurant some points in my book.
I ordered the enchilada combination plate (we didn't have to wait long for our food which is definitely important when you are starving) and the presentation of the food was appealing. Sometimes looks can be deceiving, but in this case, it tasted as good as it looked. The enchiladas were made from blue-corn tortillas and the sauce was neither too spicy nor bland; it was perfect. On the side, it came with potatoes (that actually reminded me a little of the kind they serve at Abuelos) and flavorful beans that were the best I have had in a long time. Our meal also came with chips and hot sauce, though I will say that I personally did not care for the hot sauce.
The price for my plate was around $11 as were most of the other combination plates. This is a great deal not only because of the food, but because of the atmosphere. However, if you go for the steaks, expect to pay an extremely high price. For a college student, getting a steak most likely won't fit your budget, but if you save up for a special occasion, then I would suggest going and trying their steaks. I cannot rate their steaks since I have never had one, but from the restaurant's advertisement, it sounds amazing. In fact, their website describes their famous steaks: "Las Brisas Southwest Steakhouse, where flavorful and tender Reserve Black Angus Beef is the star attraction. Every bite is succulent, tender and juicy." Now if that doesn't make your mouth water, then you must be a vegetarian!
I recommend going here for a relaxing time after a stressful week, sitting on the patio and seeing the beautiful view. Oh, and if you want to spend some more money when you're there, get the Chocolate Truffle Pie for dessert … it is to die for! Take your friends here or go with your date for a wonderful, truly unforgettable dining experience.
